At the latter end of April I was unfortunately admitted to the GWH in Swindon.

I hold my hands up as being diabetic type 2. I was not looking after myself properly and I developed a gastric ulcer. I think I was in for about six weeks.

I had treatment and was discharged. About a fortnight passed and I had to go up to Swindon hospital to have an endoscopy – having a camera down your throat into your stomach to see how things are progressing.

I was not allowed anything to eat or drink six hours before the procedure which would have been about 9am on May 24.

Afterwards it was explained by the nurse how everything went and to my delight everything was okay.

I came home on the number 49 bus only to be greeted at my front door by a locksmith and the carer who attended that day.

Aster Living, who I have my carer from, were informed about a week before that I would not be needing any carers on May 24. So why did they send anybody to see me?

To make matters worse they had to get the police to break in to see if I was all right.

I have a keysafe outside on the wall with a code number to get in. Wouldn’t it have been easier to get my code number and get a key to get into the flat? They said they were not allowed to use it in case of a dire emergency. If I hadn’t turned up they were going to start ringing A&E departments to see if I had been taken to hospital.

So now the lock has to be repaired and someone will have to pay the bill, which will not be me.

I have also asked for a written apology from Aster Living.
