The Gruffalo made a guest appearance at Royal Wootton Bassett Library yesterday.
About 270 children took part in the event, which included a storytelling session and a chance to meet the Gruffalo.
Community librarian Carolyn Kennedy said events like this are important for the children.
“It is all part of our promotion of reading with young children. We do it to encourage children to read and use the library,” she said.
“They had a lovely time. They listened to the story of the Gruffalo’s Child and then we sang the Gruffalo’s song to see if we could make him appear.
“Suddenly we turned around and there he was at the window outside. He came in and all the children were able to greet him and do high-fives.”
