Teenager assaulted in Chippenham after being run down on zebra crossing
Wiltshire Police have appealed for witnesses after a 14-year-old student was hit by a car on a zebra crossing in Chippenham and was then assaulted by the driver and passenger.
The incident happened at about 1pm on Tuesday, January 22 outside Wiltshire College in Cocklebury Road.
The teenager was crossing the road with friends when a blue or silver Ford car was in collision with him. He was thrown on to the bonnet by the impact and the windscreen was cracked.
The woman passenger got out of the car, grabbed the student and threw him to the ground. The male driver joined in and assaulted him.
The young man walked towards the college, but the two occupants of the car continued the assault in the foyer, holding him down on the reception desk. Members of staff pulled the man away and he and the woman left the scene.
Sergeant Andy Beaven said: “The behaviour by the two people in the car was totally unacceptable.
“After colliding with a young pedestrian as he crossed the road on a zebra crossing, the two adults assaulted him at the scene of the collision and then continued the assault inside the college.
“I am seeking the public’s help to identify the male driver and his female passenger. I am also seeking information from anyone who saw what happened outside the college.
“It would also be helpful to hear from any windscreen repair companies who repaired or replaced a windscreen of a silver or blue Ford car in or near Chippenham on or after January 22.
“The man is described as white, in his 30s, around 6ft 2ins tall, of heavy build with short dark hair. He was wearing a red top and blue three-quarter length track suit bottoms. “The woman is described as white, in her mid 50s, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build with shoulder-length blonde hair.”
