The Kings Arms at All Cannings pulls a perfect pint - and that’s official.

The popular village pub run by Richard Baulu and Virginia Long has once again won a major award for its standard of catering and beer keeping by taking the gold award for a perfect pint in a tenanted house at Wadworth’s awards ceremony at the Bear Hotel in Devizes last week.

Mr Baulu said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received this award. It doesn’t just reflect on the pub but the whole community of All Cannings who have very high standards.”
The couple received their award from Geraint Williams of Carlsberg and Lloyd Stephens, tenanted trade director at Wadworth’s.

Among the other winners at the ceremony were Nick Carey and Paula Bullock from the White Hart in Wroughton who were winners of the Manager of the Year award, which they received from Brian Chambers of sponsors Heineken.

The Pheasant in Chippenham was the winner of the Best Newcomer for a managed house award, sponsored by Fosters. Licensee Richard Jennings received his award from Mr Chambers.

Three pubs in the area picked up silver awards. The Black Swan in Devizes got silver in the Pubs in Bloom category, while the Waggon and Horses at Beckhampton was second in Food Pub of the Year and The Poplars at Wingfield won silver in Retailer of the Year.

Paul Sullivan, Wadworth’s sales and marketing director, said: “The annual awards event is always a great celebration for us at Wadworth.

“Our licensees work hard all year round and at this ceremony we reward those whose efforts are particularly noteworthy.

“Times are testing for everyone in the pub trade, but our winners have demonstrated that good management, excellent beer and creative marketing can build a highly successful pub business.”
