The famous 118 moustache sported by the advertising duo on TV is nothing to Devizes hair salon owner Scott Green – his moustache is worth £1,118.

Mr Green has taken part in the annual Movember fundraising effort in aid of fighting prostate cancer for the past four years but this year his efforts have really borne fruit.

By organising a raffle with a prize of £800 worth of hair products and services, his follicular efforts have raised that noteworthy sum.

But it has come at a price for the owner of ACU hairdressing in High Street, Devizes.

He said: “I can’t wait to get rid of the moustache.

“I am going to save it and put it in a box to remind me not to do it again next year. The clients have been so generous but they have also poked a lot of fun at me and my moustache.

“I have been accused of looking like everything from a 1970s porn star to Che Guevara.”

Half of the money will go to the Prostate Cancer Charity but the rest of the money will go to Cancer Research UK for research into breast cancer.

Bo Miles-Hobbs, from the Devizes branch of Cancer Research UK, drew the winning ticket in the raffle.

She said: “Scott has done a terrific job and we very much appreciate his personal sacrifice.”
