Businesses on Langley Park in Chippenham are calling for the long awaited regeneration plans to go ahead.

The owners of Langley Park and Hathaway Retail Park held a public consultation event last month to receive feedback on proposals to build a supermarket, about 80 houses, offices, industrial unit and hotel on the adjoining sites.

Langley Park, in particular, has a number of semi-derelict buildings.

The owners, Ashtenne Industrial Fund and Aberdeen Property UK Retail Parks Trust, plan to submit a planning application to Wiltshire Council in January.

Ashley Golland, director and general manager at Westcode Semiconductors, which employs more than 200 staff at Langley Park, said: “Langley Park is a great location for us but being situated adjacent to extensive areas of semi-derelict buildings makes it difficult for us to recruit staff and impacts upon our image when hosting clients and visitors.”

Claire Quarrington, a senior administrator at RFL Communications, said: “We currently employ 38 people and we are expanding.

“Langley Park is a great location for us other than it is half derelict and there is a lack of nearby complementary uses. The location needs to improve to suit the needs of business.

“We fully endorse the proposed plans for investment, it cannot come soon enough.”
