Police are appealing for information after large amount of jewellery and silverware was stolen during a burglary in Netheravon between Friday and Saturday, October 26-27.

The overnight burglary took place at a property in Westcourt in Salisbury Road after offenders gained entry to the house by climbing over a perimeter fence and breaking in to steal what police have described as “a high value amount” of Omani silverware and jewellery.

The haul included a traditional Omani dagger and scabbard in silver and gold, anklets and “chunky” silver bracelets.

Some of the anklets contain small stones or seeds inside which rattle when shaken.

A police spokesman said: “The stolen items are worth several thousands of pounds.”

Anyone with information or any jewellers who may have been offered Omani jewellery or silverware is asked to contact PC Trevor Morgan at the Priority Crime Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
