Staff at hjKnee in Trowbridge are hoping to make the final cut of a Christmas advert filmed at their store this week.

Cameras were at the firm’s electrical store in Fore Street on Tuesday morning to film footage for a Euronics advertising campaign that will hit screens next month.

Store manager Ian Vidler said: “It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, it’s a real boost to get on TV and is creating a bit of a buzz. For the guys who work here it’s something completely different and it’s something of a vindication of all the hard work they’ve put in.”

The crew arrived from Cardiff early on Tuesday morning, staying until lunchtime to capture the footage they needed. Shop staff and customers were filmed, but no-one will know which shots have made the final cut until the ad debuts on TV at some point in December.

Mr Vidler said: “We’re members of Euronics who have 1,000 stores throughout the UK.

“They do a TV ad every year and we were shortlisted down to the last 12 stores.

“They interviewed us and we had a chat about Knee’s 133 years of retail, that it’s still owned by a family.

“We talked about my idea of the store and what it represents and they picked us out of the 12 finalists as one of the three to be in the ad.

“It’s going to be on in December, during Coronation Street and X Factor and things like that, it’s major advertising. We’ve been here 20 months and it’s gone from strength to strength, we’re on for double digit growth this year.”

Mr Vidler was filmed opening the store on the day, and is hoping that he doesn’t end up on the cutting room floor as he hopes to surprise his extended family.

“Although this will be in the paper my family are all on the south coast so we’re not going to tell them,” he said. “They’ll be watching X Factor or something and up I’ll pop.”
