TWO of your correspondents rightly praised the NHS in their letters last week, but clearly our health service is under great pressure.
Unfortunately, since almost one in 10 doctors and six per cent of nurses and health workers in the NHS are EU nationals, the situation is only going to get worse if the Government pursues its current Brexit strategy.
Regrettably, both Claire Perry, MP for Devizes, and Michelle Donelan, MP for Chippenham, voted against a proposal that EU citizens who have made their lives in the UK be allowed to stay here. It looks like the three or four-week wait to see a GP is set to get worse, along with further delays in hospital admissions.
It seems daft to me that we have not been offered another chance to vote on Britain’s exit from the EU. We all know that the campaign was riddled with misinformation and downright lies on both sides and at least now some truths are starting to emerge.
If I buy a pair of shoes I get two weeks to change my mind with no questions asked. But apparently a decision that will impact all aspects of life for many years to come must be based on one badly informed decision.
