I SEE that Ms Stroud (letters, January 27) is complaining again about the noise of military training on Salisbury Plain.
If you choose to live near a church then you must expect the sound of bells, near a railway or airport, the sound of trains or aircraft. The same applies to living near a military training area, you must expect to hear training taking place.
Training is carefully regulated to avoid damage to sites of historical interest and the Army is in no way above the law.
Military training is essential and a well trained soldier is much more likely to survive on the battlefield. The survival of our brave young soldiers is much more important to most people than the occasional irritation caused to some local residents by training noise.
Tolerate the sound of freedom or move consider moving somewhere quieter.
