SO our MPs have voted to pull the UK out of the world’s biggest, free-trading group of democratic countries, in order to negotiate trade deals with white supremacist and protectionist President Trump.
These new deals will be thrashed out in secret, not debated by our MEPs in the European Parliament. Workers’ rights, environmental protections and farmed animal welfare standards will be sacrificed as part of these new deals.
The UK has lost its triple star rating, slipped from fifth to the sixth largest economy, the pound’s value has fallen 20 per cent, while national debt is £1.7 trillion – that’s before we’ve left the EU.
The Office for Budget Responsibility calculated the Brexit costs as much as £226 million a week: far from gaining an extra ‘£350 million a week for the NHS’, our health service will be starved of funds, while the number of nurses coming from the EU has dropped by 90 per cent.
UKIP donor Aaron Banks, said Brexit will cost each family £4,300 – a price worth paying to get our ‘sovereignty’ back.
I fear many who voted in good faith may disagree, especially now Brexit means ceding sovereignty to Donald Trump.
Claire Perry said in a recent email, “as we leave the EU, it will be even more important to forge trading links with other countries like the USA”.
It’s not too late to express your views to Claire Perry MP and you can join the national demonstration for peace, rights and prosperity in the EU, in London, on March 25, a week before Article 50 is invoked.
