Hailed by many as the finest purveyors of sea songs and sea shanties in the world, Kimber’s Men, curiously based in landlocked West Yorkshire, will be appearing at The Pound, Corsham, on Friday at 7.30pm.

Following successful tours last year, where they headlined at various festivals, people are still raving over their harmonies.

The group now comprises Joe Stead (Ship's Doctor), John Bromley (Ship's Cook), Neil Kimber (Bosun), Gareth Scott (Powder Monkey) and Michael Beeke (Drummer Boy). Michael plays the Northumbrian Pipes and has added a completely new dimension to the sound.

Comedy, unusual for shanty singers, make up a good part of the show. So be prepared to laugh. Founder member, Joe Stead, who is almost a legend in his own right, says: “We are really looking forward to these shows as we've not performed in this part of Wiltshire before. If you like songs of the sea but can’t make it to the show you can find our CDs on Amazon. But there is nothing quite like hearing us live on stage.”
