SWINDON Town have announced the signing of Liverpool defender Brad Smith on a youth loan deal.

A statement released by the club this evening read: "Town have completed the signing of Liverpool defender Brad Smith on a youth loan.

"Twenty-year-old Smith made his debut for Liverpool last term, stepping off the bench against Chelsea. The left-back has also represented England at youth international level and helped his country reach the quarter-finals of the Under-17 World Cup in Mexico.

"Smith will wear squad number 11 during his time at SN1."

That is very welcome news. I hope you enjoy the Swindon circus Brad. Let's hope our other targets are secured and we can then perhaps hope for a reasonable season.

On the long wait for new signings, Cooper said: “It’s frustrating but it’s just the way it is. It can’t be helped. You can see the kind of players we’ve been going for and they’re very well thought of by their clubs. We’re at the beck and call of their managers because if they don’t want to let them out at a certain time we can’t do anything about it.

Not necessarily '84 - my feet are in the sceptical camp about our "debt free" status and we know Power is no Andrew Black, which is why sight of the "books"/audit which was promised eons ago would go a long way to dispel these types of rumours once and for all. I hear all the noises about being sustainable but I can't help wondering if we're actually talking more avoiding administration.

Good news about Brad Smith. All we need now is news of a loan striker and I will be happy.

Really can't wait for the start of the season and the end to all this speculative garbage on the threads here borne, no doubt, out of either mischief, boredom or disproportionate anxiety.

Would also like to see normal relations resume between the Club and Adver so as we could have more substance to comment on.

Or perhaps even a modicum of reality? I know the likes of you and Chish love to think only positive thoughts but I always err on the side of "there's no smoke without fire" and my information comes from a reliable local media source with contacts within the club. Yes I know I'll get castigated again but previous information about not paying bills was spot on and admitted by Shah eventually when pressed on the subject - I believe she called it a delay!!

Surely if this debt situation is true didn't Lee Power state that Jed and co took money out of the club as indicated by Lee Power after the court case which could explain the present debts.

Supporting the club doesn't mean you have to be blind to off the field scenarios - I'll be there on Saturday and at Luton on Tuesday. You and the rest of the rose tinters need to wake up and smell the coffee sometimes.

Like a pig in ...

Chance to rename Leigh Power now ?

Collect the Brownie points if you are right but why apparently revel in it ?

-59 only -48, -36 to go and you will be able to call house, The prize is the chance to pay the local plod.

My take is you may be right that there are holes as it would explain the low budget this season. Question were these hole down to Lee, Jed or Jeremy ? Possibly Jed but would this have been identified in the recent court case. Lee ? Or, god forbid, further back when money was apparently no object ?

We so called "Happy Clappers" get ridiculed but it seems to me that the "Doom Mongers" cannot help themselves and have to hijack a good news thread.
