A prominent town centre housing development is nearing completion after a year of work.
Construction on the nine-home Brewery Corner development, at the junction of Northgate Street and New Park Street in Devizes, began last November and is drawing to a close.
Local developers Gaiger Bros Ltd told this paper completion is expected by January 2024.
This comes after a short delay to the original completion date, of Autumn this year, due to some poor weather conditions and difficulties with the ground.
Gaiger Bros director James Gaiger said: “The work should be completed by the end of January all being well, it’s gone well so far.
“There were some difficulties in the ground and we’re using a ‘Passivhaus’ system which will mean the homes are energy efficient.
“That’s gone really well but it has been a learning curve.”
Once finished the new development will sit opposite the historic former Wadworth Brewery, on the site of an old workshop that has since been demolished.
Mr Gaiger believes the new homes will make a key junction in the town more attractive.
He added: “It wasn’t the best thing to see as you drive into the town, so hopefully it’s a positive addition in that sense.
“What the architect has achieved is fitting houses with a modern twist into a traditional market town.”
