Malmesbury artist Brian Smith has paid his own tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore with a stunning watercolour painting.

“I specialise in watercolour and I like to give the viewer a story to my work,” he said.

“I have recently been awarded as a selected member of the prestigious Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour which is a great accolade for me.”

Brian began his career with 25 years of freelance illustration work allowing him to accrue a vast knowledge in a diverse range of skills in various mediums.

Watercolour became his chosen path and after some years of experimentation and struggle, his commitment and love of the medium brought him success and recognition with work being shown at The Mall, Bankside and Cork Street Open Exhibition in recent years.

Brian’s chosen subjects now focus on architecture and people going about their daily lives.

He has written articles for a number of the instructional art magazines in the UK.

Brian had two works accepted for The Royal Institute Of Painters In Watercolour Exhibition, 2014.The Paintings were Dress Rehearsal and Collection Point.

Two of his paintings, Harbour Homes and Old and New have been accepted into the Royal Institute of Watercolour painters.

The Institute seeks the best in contemporary watercolour and water media painting. Since its foundation in 1831, the RI has promoted the essentially English art of watercolour. The RI was formed to exhibit the best watercolours and to show non-members’ works alongside that of members.
