A bench has been dedicated to two families who have served on their parish council for a total of 120 years.

Langley Burrell Parish Council Without bought the bench for the Payne & Miflin families.

Brian Miflin joined the Parish Council in 1970, became Chairman in 1990 and retired in 2017, spending many years dedicating and improving the village and St. Peter's Church car park.

Brian's Grandfather William Payne was on the first Parish Council committee when it was formed in 1895 and Brian's uncle, Thomas Payne joined when William stepped down in the 1940s. Brian was joined by his wife Helen and daughter Heidi for the dedication given by Rev. David Kilmister of St. Peter's Church, at Langley Burrell Village Hall on Saturday, September 26, where the bench is situated.

The Langley Burrell Village Hall Trustees say they would also like to thank Brian who served many years on the hall committee.

They also had the annual prize draw and the first ticket, drawn out by Rev. David Kilmister saw Brian Miflin win the first prize of £150 donated by David Spencer. The second prize of a Fortnum & Mason Hamper was won by J. Mathers and donated by Brenda Coleman of Langley House. Prizes raised in excess of £1,400 which will be split between St. Peter's Church & the village hall.
