LACOCK Lupus sufferer Clare Boldon has swapped sewing dance tutus to make face masks.
She has raised £600 in just one week for the Lupus UK charity - and is now getting orders from across the country.
“I’m in the vulnerable category, so I’m inside for at least 12 weeks,” explained Clare, who has run a successful tutu making business for five years since ditching her career as an engineer in London.
“Because there are no dance competitions going on, orders have dried up, so I thought I’d start making masks. At first people in the dance network I sell to were asking for them, and now word has spread and I’m getting orders from Dudley to Durham! I’m not charging for the masks,” said Clare. “But people are donating what they can for them.”
Local businesses are helping, with Chippenham's Fabrictime donating hundreds of pounds worth of material, and bags from the Whitehall Garden Centre in Lacock.
