Visa scheme withdrawal is a short-sighted idea

I am disgusted that Danny Kruger MP and his gang of right wing conservatives would call for the government to withdraw the Health and Care Worker visa scheme which has brought many much needed care workers into the UK. (Adver, July 6)

How short sighted can this call be? Only this week, the CEO of the Great Western Hospital has said that there are currently 120 patients ready for discharge in the hospital but unable to go home due to lack of carers to look after them in their own homes. (Adver, July 3).

Our NHS is on its knees and Danny Kruger and his gang are playing politics with the NHS and people’s lives in an effort to secure votes by appealing to the anti-immigration vote.

Were their suggestion to be enacted, the crisis in the NHS would only get worse.

Not all immigration is bad. Many immigrants contribute massively to our society and the economy.

Danny Kruger and his fellow Tories should recognise this and stop playing dog whistle politics and start doing some joined up thinking about how to deal with the many problems that the Conservative governments brought upon us over the last 12 years.
