Alison Stevens and Martin Argar

THE wedding of Alison Stevens and Martin Argar took place at St Michael and All Angels Church, Melksham on August 12.

The bride is the daughter of John and Denise Bond, of Potterne, and the bridegroom is the son of Dennis and Helen Argar, of Trowbridge.

The bride was attended by the bridegroom's sister Louise Barnett, the bride's sisters Shell James and Louisa Butler and the couple's daughter Lauren Argar. James Von Niebel was the best man and the ushers were the bridegroom's brothers Robert Argar and Chris Argar.

The bridegroom owns his own business in Trowbridge, selling, serving and maintaining prestige cars, and the bride has worked for the last six years at the Leekes store in Melksham. The couple, who live in Woodstock Gardens, Melksham, also have a two-year-old son, Harvey.

The reception was held in the Bear Hotel in Devizes and the couple said afterwards: "We were really pleased with the staff at The Bear. Nothing has been too much trouble in making our big day run smoothly.”

The couple got engaged last year after a meal at Bath restaurant Aqua, following a visit to the Bath Spa. Mr Argar did not declare his intentions until the end of the meal, when he told the waiter he was with his future fiancee, produced a ring, got down on one knee and proposed. The entire restaurant erupted with applause when the answer was Yes, and staff produced champagne for the happy couple, in a lovely end to a perfect night.
