DEVIZES started the strongest and scored in the third minute when a 30-metre break from Lewis Dodds and quick ruck ball and neat passing along the back line put wing Harry Easton in for the first score. Marlborough responded at once with a fine solo run by their Number 8 who split the Devizes defence to draw the scores.

The rest of the first half was tight. tense rugby with both sides looking to attack at every opportunity and great defence stopping them.

The Marlborough pack had the edge but heroic defence from the Devizes team kept them out.

The second half started with Devizes dropping the ball from the kick off, but from then on the team stepped up through the gears and started to play with increasing confidence.

The Devizes pack, led from the front by captain Ben Holland, began to win the contest in the loose play and soon Marlborough were pinned in their own half and defending for their lives.

Their line was finally broken when a series of drives up the middle created an overlap on their blind side and Aiden Pollock scampered in for Devizes' second try.

Devizes continued to press and Marlborough continued their desperate defence until the finally gave away a kickable penalty which Dodds put over.

Dodds then scored himself snaffling a spilled ball and accelerating straight through the opposition. Tim Bradley converted the try to seal the win.
