MINETY knew they were in for a difficult Wiltshire Cup match away against Marlborough, when injuries and non-availabilities made it clear that they were going to struggle to put out a team.

The visitors started the game with only 12 players but were reinforced by a late arrival shortly afterwards.

Despite being understrength, Minety were into their stride from the first whistle.

Some strong running from fly-half Will Armstrong resulted in their first try of the game. It was converted by Garin Garland, the first of his three goals.

Despite being two players short in the pack, Minety’s forwards soon gained control of the scrums and the contact area.

The quick possession they provided led to a try for centre Lewis Hall and the visitors finished the first half 14 points ahead.

The second half saw Minety playing down the slope.

Some great tactical kicking and a wholehearted performance from all 13 men allowed them to dominate play.

Armstrong and Hall added a further try each before prop Alex Wright made a decisive break. His superb scoring pass set up fellow prop Luke Evans for a final try in the corner.
