ON SUNDAY, Miren (Minety and Cirencester) travelled to Witney to play Oxford (a combined Oxfordshire Clubs’ Team).

Conditions were perfect for open rugby and Miren got off to a flyer with an early try from Catrin Garland and conversion by Adrianne Blair.

Oxford immediately struck back with an unconverted try and the game settled into a keenly contested affair.

However, midway through the half, the Miren pack began to dominate and set up a great platform for their fast back line.

It was only a matter of time before more scores came, the first by Jasmine Norman soon followed by Josie Snow after a powerful break from Jenny Benton. Blair added the conversion.

Miren went in 31-5 up at half time with further tries from Garland and Norman and conversions from Blair.

The start of the second half mirrored the first with an early try from Garland.

Miren really had their tails up and were dominating all phases of play.

Powerful runs from Megan Sanders and Amelia Buckland Hurry were making huge inroads into the Oxford defence and, with superb handling and support play throughout the team, Miren began to run in tries from all over the field.

Lauren Wyatt made an impressive debut claiming three, Amie Stephenson one and Blair two tries with a further three conversions.

Player of the game: Lauren Wyatt.

Miren: Alice Evans, Sam Alderman, Rachel Carpenter, Megan Sanders Chloe Morris, Jasmine Norman, Amelia Buckland Hurry, Amie Stephenson, Katie Moy, Catrin Garland, Jenny Benton, Josie Snow, Rosie Mizen, Lauren Wyatt and Adrianne Blair.
