INJURY and illness-ravaged Marlborough took to the field with just 12 players against Devizes.
In freezing and wet conditions, Devizes used their numerical advantage to run in several tries In the scrums, Marlborough did well to oppose the push of eight men against Marlborough’s five men and even turned them over on a couple of occasions, with great effort from the front row, Ryan Davies, Harry Shakeshaft and Jeremy Morgan, and second rows Tom Rodge and Jaccob Clay.
Devizes beat Marlborough 32-0 and it was decided that the second half would be played as a friendly. Devizes took off a player, but Marlborough came back to outscore them in the second half.
The first try came from constant pressure by the Marlborough pack, picking and driving, the score coming from captain Tom Rogerson.
Another try followed as acting centre Charlie Griffith-Jones ran through the whole Devizes team.
The Marlborough backs Michael Loveday, Chris Allport and Tom Gray put in some excellent tackles and U14 James Clay was also very impressive at full back.
Devizes scored one more try before the end.
The U15s train on Thursday nights at 6pm at the Marlborough clubhouse.
