CHIPPENHAM moved level on points with second-placed Banbury in South West One East with a 27-22 triumph at Grove.

The visitors made a poor start in Oxfordshire as some indisciplined defending allowed the home side two tries inside the first 10 minutes.

A Dan Wainwright penalty got the away side on the scoreboard before Chippenham levelled the game after slick set piece from the backs and a scintillating run down the left flank by full-back Will Waddington, who broke three tackles, Wainwright adding the extras.

The visitors' momentum continued with number eight Charlie Palmer rampaging over after minutes of sustained pressure in the Grove 22.

Within minutes, Chippenham went over again as Henry Corp crossed, another Grove score making it 20-17 to Chippenham at half-time.

A second Palmer try after the break, Wainwright again converting took them further clear before Grove responded with a try to bag a bonus point.
