DEVIZES and Corsham have had their Dorset & Wilts Cup semi-final fixtures confirmed for next month.

The Southern Counties South duo are drawn separately, with Corsham making the trip to divisional rivals North Dorset on November 18.

On the same day, Devizes face a tricky home last-four encounter as they host currently-unbeaten Southern Counties South leaders Sherborne.

Meanwhile, a spate of injuries meant Minety were forced to concede their Dorset & Wilts Senior Vase quarter final tie against Dorchester, which was due to be played on Saturday.

The villagers were left ravaged by injuries after recent league games and were forced to pull out, Dorchester moving on to a home semi final against Supermarine, the beneficiaries of Bradford on Avon crying off from their last-eight clash.

Minety first-team captain Tom Claxton said: “The reason was predominantly due to injuries in the tight five and the resulting inability to field a front row or experienced locks.

We had more than 10 players out injured, eight of them first team. Even if we had had sufficient numbers we would have had players playing well out of position and that is never satisfactory.”

Dorset sides Oakmeadians and Bridport contest the other semi final on November 18.

In the Plate last four, Westbury will travel to Amesbury next month having been handed a home walkover in Saturday’s scheduled quarter final against Calne, Puddletown and East Dorset on the other side of the draw.

In the second XV Cup, Chippenham will host North Dorset on November 18, with Wimborne awaiting the winners in the final.

Corsham are awaiting the winners of the Shield quarter-final between Marlborough and Warminster, also scheduled for November 18.

In the 3rd XV Cup, Trowbridge got the better of hosts Devizes 38-19 in their first-round meeting, despite a hat-trick of tries from the home side’s Lewis Dodds.
