Premier League player of the season Bruno Fernandes became embroiled in a feud with former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane.
Keane’s former United team-mates Sir David Beckham and Gary Neville watched on as their Salford side were beaten by Notts County in the League Two play-off final.
And Erling Haaland promised Manchester City will keep fighting for trophies following the departure of Pep Guardiola, while Khadija Shaw committed her future to City’s women’s side.
Bruno Fernandes criticises Roy Keane ‘lie’
"What I don't like is when people lie about things, and in this case, what you said about Roy Keane, basically, what he said is a lie."

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes accused Roy Keane of telling a “lie” about his pursuit of the Premier League assists record.
Fernandes claimed the outright record for assists in a single season by taking his tally to 21 in Sunday’s 3-0 win at Brighton.
United great Keane had suggested the Portugal international was prioritising individual glory over the team’s interests. Fernandes responded by saying Keane had put untrue “words in my mouth”.
Despite appearing to have misinterpreted Fernandes’ comments, former United and Republic of Ireland skipper Keane seemingly stoked the feud by posting on Instagram: “Too much attention makes a donkey think he’s a lion.”
Salford’s dreams dashed by Notts County

Sir David Beckham made an unhappy Wembley return as the Salford side he co-owns were beaten 3-0 by Notts County in the League Two play-off final.
Former England captain Beckham was unimpressed in the stands as first-half goals from Alassana Jatta and Lucas Ness and a clincher from the outstanding Jodi Jones enabled County to reclaim a League One spot following an 11-year absence.
County – formed in 1862 and Football League founding members – were the better side and forced Salford, who only escaped the non-league circuit seven years ago, to remain in the fourth tier for at least another season.
It was also a Wembley outing to forget for Ammies co-owner Gary Neville and his former England and Manchester United team-mates Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes, who are no longer a shareholders but are still involved with the club.
Haaland expects City success post Pep

Erling Haaland promised Manchester City will keep fighting to “win everything” following the end of their “amazing journey” with Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola signed off after 10 glorious years as City manager in which he won 20 trophies during an open-top bus parade through Manchester followed by a presentation at Co-op Live.
Monday’s event was arranged to celebrate the team’s domestic cup double as well as the club’s Women’s Super League and FA Youth Cup triumphs.
Haaland said: “It has been an up-and-down season but we are going to try to keep pushing and try to fight to win the biggest trophies we can. We are fighting to win everything again.”
Khadija Shaw staying at Man City

Golden boot winner Khadija Shaw signed a new four-year contract with Manchester City.
The 29-year-old Jamaica striker, who has registered 117 goals in 137 appearances since joining from Bordeaux in 2021, confirmed her stay at City’s parade.
Shaw enjoyed a stellar season for the club, scoring 21 times in 22 league games to help City win their first Women’s Super League title since 2016.
“I’ve always said that Manchester City feels like home – I’ve developed so much as a player and grown so much as a person during my first five years here,” said Shaw, who is preparing for Sunday’s FA Cup final against Brighton after claiming a third successive WSL golden boot award.
What’s on today?
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner will speak to the media ahead of Wednesday’s Conference League final against Spanish side Rayo Vallecano.
The match in Leipzig will be the Austrian’s final game in charge of Palace before he leaves the role at the end of the season.
