YOUNG golfers in Wiltshire have until Friday to enter the 32nd Hills Wiltshire Junior Golf Championships to try to follow in the footsteps of two-time Ryder Cup winner David Howell.

The competition, which is sponsored by The Hills Group and run in conjunction with Wiltshire County Golf Union, is open to boys and girls up to 18 years old and is being held at Marlborough Golf Club on Wednesday, August 23.

Those with CONGU competition handicaps (28 for boys and 36 for girls) will play the 18-course in a medal format.

Those without CONGU handicaps are able to compete over the Boardman Hill nine-hole short course.

Entry fees, which include a meal, are £10 per player.

Prizes will be awarded for each age group including vouchers for gross and net scores for entrants in the 18 hole medal.

Overall boys’ and girls’ gross score winners will receive trophies together with a trophy for best nett overall.

Entries can be made via the Wiltshire County Golf Union website wcgu.org.uk or through The Hills Group website hills-group.co.uk.

European Tour star Howell is a past winner of the event, triumphing in 1991 and 1992
