GYMNASTS from Chippenham Moonraker competed in the annual Witch of the West Championships at Wiltshire School of Gymnastics in Melksham at the weekend.

Katie Strange starred on day one of the three-day event, impressing by scooping gold in the Miss Quatro Regional One category.

Lauren Searle and Jenny Francklin also competed, finishing fifth and fourth respectively.

Saturday saw Moonraker's youngest competitors take to the floor for the first time in their careers.

Danielle Armado, Megan Baker and Freyja Irving-French finished 23rd, 24th and 27th out of the 41 competitors in the Club Grade Six category.

Hermione Ferris and Emily Clark were in action in the Grade Five competition.

Both gymnasts stuck to their routines to finish 10th and 12th while Katherine Allday placed fourth at Grade Four level.

Other competitors in the Grade Four event were Leah Bishop (eighth), Madison Cox (12th), Florrie Strange (16th) and Charlotte Foley (17th).

Sunday, the last day of competition, saw medals flood in for Moonraker.

Ellie Treacy scooped the silver medal while Kelsey Stokes added a bronze in the National Grade Two category. Sophie Townsend finished fourth.

Eva Falcone-Healy had a fantastic day on beam, floor and vault - placing ninth in the National Grade Three event.

Summer Taylor fell one place short of a medal in the National Grade Four while Freya Gleed, Jemma Vincent, Tamar Hibbert and Emily Macklin-Day competed at Regional Grade Two level.

Gleed bagged a silver while Vincent picked up sixth place in the ribbon while Hibbert finished eighth in the same event while Macklin-Day placed ninth.
