DEVIZES Town Reserves can set their sights towards mid-table in the Premier Division after lowering the colours of Royal Wootton Bassett Development on another weather-affected weekend.

The reserves secured only their second win in six matches as Bassett’s bid to move into the top three of the table was thwarted at Nursteed Road.

Bassett had thrashed Ludgershall Sports 5-1 in their previous outing, but were undone as Alex Surman and Liam Mortimer both netted for the home side.

Logan Cassidy’s sixth goal of the season proved just a consolation for Bassett as Devizes cemented their position in 12th, nine points clear of next-placed Trowbridge Town but only four behind Westbury United Reserves in seventh.

More than half of Saturday’s programme was wiped out by the weather but Shrewton United moved into the top three as they dispatched Ludgershall Sports 8-2.

Jesse Walters led the way with a hat-trick, taking his season’s tally to 15, while Nathan Jones netted twice and Charlie Utterson, Dominic Jackson and Lee Weeks were also on target.

Corsham Town Reserves secured a 4-2 home win over Malmesbury Victoria Development.

Josh Bright scored twice for Corsham, with Ed McCormack and Matt Legg also finding the net.

Harrison Archer and Dan Scull replied for Malmesbury.
