MELKSHAM Town took advantage of a weather-affected day in the Toolstation League as they went clear in third place in the Premier Division with a 2-0 win over Brislington.

Kieran Baggs' side warmed up for next weekend's FA Vase last 16 encounter against Tring as a goal in each half handed their the three points at Oakfields, Melksham also handing a full debut to U18 player Seth Wain.

New signing Francois Allen netted 13 minutes in for the home side, with Gary Higdon's second-half strike wrapping up the result in front of a crowd of nearly 300.

That was one of only four matches to take place in the Toolstation League, with none of the other Wiltshire sides in action.

Chippenham Town also suffered more misery at the hands of the elements as their trip to face Gloucester City was called off on Saturday.

The Bluebirds will make a third attempt to get their away National League South clash at Poole Town played on Tuesday evening, following two previous postponements.
