Second division Melksham Town B stole the headlines in the quarter-finals of the Chantry Digital-sponsored Knockout Cup by inflicting a 3-0 defeat on first division leaders Freshford United.

With the game moved from Oakfields to Brown’s Park it was Melksham who took the game to Freshford courtesy of goals from Gage Jones, Tom Thomson and Ben Lewis.

Second division outfit Heytesbury were beaten 5-2 by Hilperton United.

Goals on 14 and 28 minutes from Steve Ball and Graham Griffiths put Hilperton 2-0 up before Jamie Howse headed home an Ashley Kinkead free kick just before half-time.

Dan Dicks got Heytesbury back on level terms early in the second half, however that was as close as they got as Tom Blackman regained the lead for Hilperton on 54 minutes and further goals from Griffiths and Ball made the final score 5-2.

Luxol St Andrews progressed through to the semi-final of the cup with a 5-1 win over a depleted Calne Eagles.

In a tight first half St Andrews took the lead after 25 minutes with a Nick Taylor header from a corner.

At the start of the second half Taylor scored his second to double the advantage.

St Andrews continued to have the better of the second half but Calne pulled a goal back with 20 minutes to go when Barry Forster set up Shaun Jefferies to score neatly from just inside the box.

Almost immediately the home side restored their two-goal lead through Tom Rooney and Taylor then completed his hat-trick with another superb finish for 4-1. Mark Reynolds' penalty completed the win.

Stockton & Codford avoided a potential banana skin at home to second division high-flyers Holt who, after taking a 1-0 half-time lead, were undone in the second period by their hosts who booked a semi-final spot thanks to a 3-1 success.

Holt took the lead on 30 minutes, a long ball over the top found Carl Davies, who managed to hit the bar twice before tapping home the opener.

Liam Gibbens restored parity on 48 minutes and Jayson Stokes put Stockton 2-1.

Justin Preece made the game safe with the hosts third, five minutes from time.
