I MADE by best score of the season against Glamorgan in the County Championship earlier this week, although it is a little bit disappointing to get out for 99.

At the end of the day, I would have taken that at the start of the day, so I have to be happy with that.

I can certainly relate to the nervous 90s analogy and it’s something I regret as I probably changed the way I was playing in the 90s.

I had done so well to get to 90 - I should have just kept doing what I was doing. That’s something I am going to learn from.

I was playing pretty positively against Colin Ingram’s spin and then I got into the 90s and went into my shell a little bit and hit a leading edge straight back to him.

That’s something I won’t do in the future. I will just whack the spinner next time.

My opening partner, Nick Browne, also got 129 and we shared a partnership of 237.

It was a good partnership and a record for Essex against Glamorgan, so it was certainly nice to get that as well.

I went out on loan from Hampshire because I wanted to play some cricket and I feel like I have done pretty well at Essex. I have contributed in most games and I am enjoying playing cricket here.

I hope I can get a few more opportunities like that as I feel like I have batted well all year, I just haven’t got a score. There is a lot of cricket to be played yet and I am going to be trying my hardest to get more runs.

We have got two massive games coming up in the T20 Blast now on Friday and then next Friday.

We are in a very good position in that competition and it’s in our own hands - with two wins we will be in the quarter-finals, which will be exciting.

Both games are at Chelmsford and teams don’t like coming there as it’s a tough place to come.

First up, it’s Middlesex and they actually beat us last Friday. We weren’t good enough that day, we just didn’t turn up.

They are bottom of the group and are playing with a lot of freedom. They have got nothing to lose and can go out there and play how they want to play. Teams like that can be dangerous.
