OUR DRESSING room is used to performing in the big games and coming away winning them, so it was really disappointing to not have brought home the trophy on T20 finals day.

We’ve done really well in the last few years and we’ve played some great cricket all season in the competition but it’s all about performing on the day and we just didn’t do that against Surrey on Saturday.

We didn’t score enough runs on the day and it was as simple as that.

That isn’t like us at all but that’s what happened. It’s really disappointing for everyone but as soon as the game was over, we said that the next six weeks of the season were massive.

We’re still in the position to win another trophy with the YB40 and we’re still top of our group.

Things are in our hands and we know that a win on Monday at Derbyshire will get us a home semi-final, which is exactly what we’re aiming for.

They’re a bit of an inconsistent side, so you never know what you’re going to get when you go there.

The wicket is similar and it’s hard to know what to prepare for and Derbyshire do have some very good players that we’ve got to be wary of.

But we’re confident that if we play very well, like we have done plenty of times this season, we can come away with the win that we need.

Unfortunataly, we couldn’t get a win at Lancashire on Tuesday but we were always struggling with Michael Carberry, James Vince and Danny Briggs away playing for the England Lions - those three are a big part of our team in the one-day competitions.

The lads that came in did really well and we only lost by five runs.

I got out for a duck though, which is pretty disappointing but as a batsman, it can always happen.

I’ve been batting well this season and I’m happy with how things are going, so it’s up to me to try and make up for it in Monday’s game.

I didn’t get back home until 4am on Wednesday, so it was pretty knackering, but we’ve got a few days off, which is nice.

Then we’re back training on Saturday and Sunday, getting ready for that game against Derbyshire.
