ENTRIES have opened for Chippenham Harriers’ new five-mile road race and family fun runs in June.

The June 10 event, which is being organised in association with Chippenham Rugby Club, replaces the popular Friends of St Mary School five-mile event and follows the same route towards Biddestone village.

Race director Mike Bright said: “I am delighted that that the Harriers are able to keep it going.

“We have been working closely with the previous organisers and hope we can build upon their excellent work in establishing such an enjoyable event.’’

Previous race organiser Gemma Collings said: “We are particularly excited that with such a strong youth section they (Harriers) will place particular emphasis on the fun runs which have proven to be incredibly popular.’’

The first male and female finishers in the main race (11am) will each receive £50, with trophies for age category winners in the race and fun runs (9.30am) and all runners receiving a medal.

See chippenhamharriers.co.uk for more information and details on Harriers’ nine-week beginners’ group, which will start on Friday, May 11, at Chippenham Sports and Social Club and is aimed at people looking to return to running or beginners looking to get fit.

Pewsey Vale Running Club’s annual 12k Bluebell Run takes place on Sunday, starting at Collingbourne Ducis. See pewseyvalerunningclub.org for details.
