BRADFORD notched up their fifth consecutive victory as a teenage front row shone at their county rivals.

The visitors fielded 19-year-olds Dave Lamplough, Josh Smith and Oli Stacey up front and their backs-to-the-wall performance against experienced opponents helped lay the foundations for victory.

Bradford took the lead when scrum-half Gareth Wheatley caused problems at the base of a Pewsey scrum and, as the ball went loose, Steve Bearpark pounced to score under the posts in his first start at fly-half. Matt Edwards converted.

Bearpark set up the second try, as Andy Kehoe went over, again near the posts and Edwards added the extras.

Pewsey stormed back into it after the interval, but found themselves held up by committed visiting defence, who held them up on half a dozen occasions.

Eventually, the home side broke through number eight Phil Vallis touching down.

But Bradford sealed their triumph when Harry Bradley’s pass allowed Edwards to touch down for an unconverted score.
