JASON Forster has reaffirmed his commitment to Chippenham next season after the Allington Field side secured their National League status on Saturday.

Former Wales international Forster, who guided the club to the South West One West title in his first campaign last season, watched his men reach safety after an opening 40 minutes he rated as the finest of their season.

Chippenham, with Tom Baldwin outstanding, scored tries through skipper Bobby Lyons, wing Christian Novik and centre Ryan Surry before half-time before a brace from scrum-half Lewis Surry and Fraser Clilverd’s score, plus two Sam Saunders conversions wrapped it up after the break, despite an Old Reds fightback.

Forster said: “it would have been nice to be safe earlier than three games to go but in many way, it sums up our season.

“We’ve been playing some fantastic stuff, but on occasions we’ve shot ourselves in the foot too.

“When we click we’re fabulous to watch and hopefully, the players are aware of what is needed at National League level now and can use the experience.

“These lads play for the club for the love of it and they should believe they are a good enough team for this level.

“Our second team and U17s and 18s are going exceptionally well this season so it bodes well for a club perspective.

“I spoke to the chairman (Mark Parry) and I’ve no plans to go anywhere. I want to stay at Chippenham because I like the club and they have been very good to me.’’
