CHIPPENHAM ensured their National Three South West survival with a thrilling away win in Bristol.
The visitors, with Tom Baldwin in superb form, took the lead on six minutes when skipper Bobby Lyons touched down and they extended their advantage as wing Christian Novik finished off another move.
Old Reds hit back with a Joe Hall penalty but Chippenham continued to play some of their best rugby of the season, with centre Rupert Crockett punching holes in the defence.
Ryan Surry, playing alongside Crockett, danced through for his side’s third try before the break.
The visitors extended their lead after half time as Fraser Clilverd ran through to secure the bonus point, Sam Saunders converting.
Old Reds hit back with a converted try but Chippenham scrum-half Lewis Surry added his first try of the match, Saunders again converting.
The Bristol side added another converted score but Surry captalised on a drive from second row Adrian Price for his second.
Old Reds added two late scores as Chippenham’s efforts were hampered by two yellow cards.
