DEVIZES were held to their second successive 17-17 draw in Southern Counties South to leave themselves a mountain to climb in their promotion battle.

The Saddlebacks are now 10 points behind second-placed Sherborne with just three games remaining.

Frome got the first try of the match as the visiting pack began to assert themselves well on the Saddlebacks forwards, the conversion being added.

But Devizes got themselves on the board when Andy Thompson slotted a penalty after Frome infringed at the breakdown.

The home side grabbed the lead as Craig Bryant burst through the defence and sent Matty Holloran over near the posts, Thompson adding the extras for a three-point half time lead.

Frome roared back in the second period and took the lead with two quick tries.

But good recycling from the home forwards allowed scrum-half Tom Collins to barge over from close range and Thompson levelled the scores with the conversion.
