THE Trowbridge League were certain to have a representative in this season’s final of the Wiltshire Junior Cup as first division Seend United were paired with newly crowned third division champions Lamb FC for their semi-final showdown at Meadow Lane.

Lamb went into the game as massive underdogs but finished the afternoon as surprised but deserved 3-2 winners.

Richard Stevens' side are now just 90 minutes and one win away from capping what has already been a fantastic season, with Salisbury League side Stockton & Codford standing in their way of following in the footsteps of The Deverills who last term beat huge favourites FC Sanford to lift the cup.

Seend, with their greater experience and after their victory over Mere Town in the previous round, would have expected to progress to the final, especially after Chris Stiles had given them a half time lead.

Lamb showed their fighting qualities early in the second half as they got back on level terms just two minutes after the restart when Sam Stevens held his nerve to fire home from the penalty spot.

Seend regained the lead through Ben Grinham but were again pegged back by the Lamb who restored parity through Kieran Fereday who lashed home a Ryan Underwood cross to make it two apiece.

Having got back on level terms Lamb were overflowing with confidence and they took the lead for the first time in the contest courtesy of a stunning 20-yard finish from Stevens which turned out to be the winner for the unfancied Lamb.
