OGBOURNE St George youngster Ryan Lockwood will show off his skills at the country’s oldest horse show this summer.

The 11-year-old, who lives at the Old Vicarage, sealed his place in the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead for riders aged 12 and under with a fourth-placed finish at the Keysoe Pony Premier show in Bedfordshire.

Lockwood, who goes to Pinewood School in Bourton, qualified on 14-year-old ride Pielview Conker – his second appearance at the All England Jumping Course.

“When he was nine-years-old, he took part in an inter-schools competition there and only had four faults,” said mum Nicola.

“He’s excited about this time and he’s done well to get there because it was a big ask having to jump fences that were 1.10m high, 1.15m and then 1.20m in the third round.’’

Lockwood has been a member of the Vale of the White Horse Hunt Pony Club since the age of two, with dad Dean and mum Nicola also keen riders.

He also rode for the Pony Club in the Mini Major show at the Olympia Horse show in December last year.
