JEFF Roberts is hoping that a number of new additions will help keep his Calne Town side in the mix at the top of the Toolstation League First Division.

The Lilywhites have signed defender Andy Westall from near neighbours Devizes Town while joint-boss Roberts has also made approaches for a striker from Hellenic League outfit Purton and an unspecified player from Bradford Town.

Glenn Armstrong and Dan King got the goals as Calne got the better of fellow high-flyers Elmore last weekend.

“At the moment, we’re struggling to put out much more than just 12 because we’ve got so many players out,” said Roberts.

“I feel that we need to bring a few in and hopefully we can persuade them all to come over.

“We want to try and stay part of the pack at the top of the table and adding a few should help us do that because we just don’t have the cover there.”

Striker Armstrong gave Calne the perfect start at Bremhill View when he fired home from King’s cross in the opening minute.

The same due combined again to make it 2-0 in the 10th minute, with King volleying home after Armstrong headed across goal.

Sam Kemp pulled a goal back for Elmore late on.

Jake Jefferies, Kris Beasley and Nathan Phillimore are all expected to miss this weekend’s Les Phillips Cup clash with Cadbury Heath.

CALNE have secured a new sponsorship deal with the Hills Group.

The Lilywhites sported their new strip at Saturday’s win over Elmore.

Hills chief executive Mike Hill said: “Calne Town Football Club is on our doorstep and as over 70 of our staff live in Calne we are really pleased to be able to support their local club.’’ Club vice chairman John Rumming added: “We need to raise as much money as possible each year to keep going and it is just great that Hills are willing to get involved.”
