DEVIZES Town assistant boss James Dore says that the Nursteed Road management team have no plans to step away from the club as they continue to struggle at the bottom of the Toolstation League First Division.
Devizes were beaten 4-0 at Chard Town last weekend, with Sam Clark netting a hat-trick for the hosts and Jon Hurford also on target.
Richard Gee saw red midway through the game for two bookings.
“We created chance after chance and the count was probably 20 – that’s not an exaggeration,” said Dore.
“There’s no way that we could have a go at the boys because they’re still performing well and we just need that one result to fall our way.
“There’s no way that me and Mark (Love, manager) would think about walking away – it’s a long old season and there are plenty of points left to play for.”
ELSEWHERE, Pewsey Vale slipped to their heaviest-ever defeat in the Wessex League as they were hammered 7-2 at home by AFC Portchester In-demand Pewsey defender Jon Guthrie fired home two second half free-kicks to reduce the deficit to 4-2 but the visitors continued to run riot.
“It was the worst performance in the time me and Lewis (Taylor, assistant) have been in charge,” said boss Adi Holcombe.
“It’s time to go back to the drawing board.”
