CHIPPENHAM Town manager Adie Mings is still considering legal action over comments made by Poole Town boss Tom Killick after last week’s FA Trophy replay at Hardenhuish Park.

The Bluebirds produced an unlikely comeback victory to beat Poole 2-1 at Hardenhuish Park with nine men, but Killick claimed that Mings punched defender Will Spetch during a melee involving players and staff from both sides in the closing stages.

The Bluebirds boss was sent to the stands by referee Adam Matthews for his part in the fracas, but denies striking the player and says that the match official’s view contradicts the accusation.

“He’s made allegations and gone on record so I’m speaking to solicitors at the moment – we’ll go from there,” said Mings.

“We both spoke to the referee after the game and he categorically stated that he never saw me punch one of their players.

“I’ve got the referee’s backing, so we’ll just see what happens really.”

Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South and West side Mangotsfield United travel to Hardenhuish Park this weekend in the next round of the Trophy and Mings added: “I don’t think we could have had a tougher draw – they’ve had a great record in the last 12 months and got to the play-off semi-finals last year.

“I know most of their side and I’ve played against some of them in the past too.

“The two clubs have had some great clashes over the years and it’s got all the makings of a very good local derby – we need to make sure we apply ourselves properly.”

One old face returning to Chippenham in a Mangoes shirt this weekend will be former Bluebird Sean Seavill, who has made his long-awaited return to regular football after the horrific double leg break he suffered in September 2010 while playing for Cinderford Town.

Seavill boosted his fitness by training with Chippenham this pre-season and Mings added: “I think he played his best football under me at Chippenham and unfortunately he never got the chance to kick on because of injury.

“We know all about the threat he’ll pose and I’ll have a chat to him before and after the game but come 3pm, it’ll be all about business for 90 minutes.”
