IT’S been a pretty eventful week for me at Hampshire and there’s been a lot going on.

Last week we had one of the most entertaining four-day games I’ve ever been involved in (a draw with Nottinghamshire at the Rose Bowl) and we got docked points afterwards.

From the players’ point of view, it’s an absolutely ridiculous decision because even though the ball did spin a lot, the wicket wasn’t dangerous.

They’re trying to make sure that people watch the longer form of the game because a lot of draws can end up being quite boring and then when you have a really exciting game like that, we get punished for it.

I’ve had a pretty good campaign in the CB40 and we had two matches earlier this week.

On Monday, I had a really good score of 70 against Northamptonshire. It was a good performance from us and a good win.

Things didn’t go so well the next day against Warwickshire and I struggled myself in that one.

They probably got too many runs for us to get anything out of it but that’s just the way it goes sometimes.

Everyone at the club is probably already thinking about the T20 quarter final at the start of August and that’s also because we’re probably out of the running in the other two competitions.

We might well be looking at relegation in the county championship now but we’ll have to do our best to try and bounce back from that if it happens.

The club has a proud history in the competition and we’ve been in Division One for 10 years, so hopefully it’s not too bad if we do have to go down.

The great escape could still be on and if we manage to win five of our last seven games, you never know what could happen.

We’ve got some time off until Saturday and that’s really nice to have because it’s so physically and mentally draining playing county cricket.
