TOMMY Bridewell believes that the re-vamping of his Quay Garage Honda team can help him clinch next year’s MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship title.

After agreeing a sponsorship deal with Tyco Security Products, Motorpoint Yamaha rider Dan Linfoot will join fellow 22 year-old Bridewell, as a second rider for the re-branded Tyco Honda in the 2011 series.

The Etchilhampton speedster will also be trading in his dated Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade for the same bike and machinery used by 2010 title-chasers Ryuichi Kiyonari and Josh Brookes.

“It’s really exciting for me and I think it could make us the best team in the paddock,” said Bridewell.

“I’ve really been riding my bike to its limits but with the bikes that the HM Plant riders (Kiyonari and Brookes) have been using, we can get to the next level because they’re the best out there at the moment.

“I’ve already signed a one-year deal for next year and it could be for longer than that because the team wants to get into World Superbikes, which is also my goal.

“I want to battle for the championship next year and I think that’s realistic – I know I can win it.”

Bridewell belivies he and Linfoot can make a formidable team.

“I actually gave the team my recommendation for Dan and I get on well with him.

“I think he could become a really good rider.

“He’s very competitive and I like to think that I’m 110 per cent competitive,” he said.

“It’s almost like the other rider is your rival but if we can take care of the other teams, there’s no reason why we can’t be first and second in races and then duke it out from there,.”

A crash halted Bridewell’s progress at Silverstone in round 11 of the MCE Insurance British Superbike championship at the weekend.

He was injured after a huge accident in practice on Friday, but finished 12th in race two.
