FOLLOWING Swindon does have its highs and lows and this week we got to experience them both.

Last Saturday, they put in a very good performance against Huddersfield.

The team is starting to put in the performances that put us in the top six for nearly all of last season and the new players have finally settled into the team.

David Prutton had his best game for the club as well, his passing was much better and his overall performance went up a notch.

I don’t know if that’s because the competition for a starting place is so close now with Simon Ferry breathing down his neck, but having the squad competing for places can only be a good thing.

Again the back four put in another excellent display to keep another clean sheet.

Sean Morrison was my man of the match for his defensive display and his excellent winning header.

Alan Sheenan also looks like a great bit of business from Danny Wilson and he should always be considered the club’s first choice left back.

Michael Rose did come and do well on Tuesday and took his free kick well but Sheenan should come back in when fit.

However, we learned how it feels to be on the other side on Tuesday.

The defence looked nothing like it did a few days before and both Plymouth crosses into the box in the first 10 minutes resulted in goals.

But that’s the cost of having younger centre backs and I’m sure they will learn and put it right with a good performance on Saturday Afterwards, Town created good chances and it looked like we would come away with a creditable 2-2 draw.

But the whole game changed when Prutton got sent off. I understand in the heat of a game you can lose your concentration and make rash decisions, but I think that cost us the match.

That’s his second seconding off and we are still in September – something he needs to sort out before it costs us more points.

Losing the game in the last second was a real cruel end to the game but the players need to be proud of the way they came back in the second half and look forward to this Saturday’s game at Dagenham and Redbridge.

PS: A big thank you to the guy not bringing his drum back to the Town End this week!
