CHIPPENHAM started in determined fashion, looking to put an end to their losing streak.
A strong teamwork and excellent passing paid off after only seven minutes, as Hannah Cox passed across the circle to the waiting Mary Derrick who slotted home.
Fine defensive work from Steph Pugh, Savneet Lochab, Suzy Schofield and Cara Smith preserved the advantage into the second half.
And were rewarded with two short corners, the second of which was superbly fired by Kate Potter to Leigh Page who beat the keeper from a tight angle.
A Mendip penalty stroke halved the lead, but Chippenham held on.
