The wins at home to Halesowen and Truro earlier in the season were very good but the 3-1 win against Corby on Saturday was fantastic.

I’ve said it all along – whenever good sides come here and want to play football with us we can match them – and we proved that again.

Defensively we were superb, including Ross Adams who was his normal immense self again.

He rose to the challenge and took the responsibility of being the leader at the back and played a true centre back’s performance.

Behind them, Chris Snoddy was outstanding, as he has been in most games this season, and I think he’s going to get better and better.

We had Corby watched three times and going on those reports I moved Sam Allison to the wing and used David Pratt through the centre.

Dave adds that different dimension when he plays up front. He always makes life hard for defenders with his work rate and we pushed Sammy out wide to try and get at their full back with his pace. I think both decisions paid off in the end.

With regards to the referee, I think you can safely say he was inconsistent. How a defender can pull Pratty down in the box and he can give a penalty but then not send the man off is just beyond me.

Similarly, he said he booked Ashley for dissent but he didn’t say anything to him. It’s confusing but we’re just pleased with the points.

Saturday’s Swindon Supermarine game has been postponed due to their progression in the FA Trophy. I might even let my squad have the day off after that performance.

Hopefully we are starting to prove a few people wrong and I’m just pleased for the lads. I’ve never given up on them and they’ve never given up on me – even when things weren’t going right.

We’ve stuck together as a group and now we want to see where we can go from here.
