Fearless skipper Iain Harvey believes the team’s recent upswing in form is merely the tip of the iceberg and that their superior fitness levels will help propel hem up the league.

After an inconsistent start to the season, Chippenham have won their last three games in a row which has seen them climb to just outside the play-off spots.

Harvey says the squad will not settle for that however and that their objectives are the same as they were in August, to gain promotion.

“I don’t think there's anyone to fear in his league,” he said.

“At the star of the season people would have looked at us to be right up there and hopefully we can get up there over the Christmas period.

“Four or five games without defeat is good but we want to go on and make it eight or ten unbeaten. We are not going to win every one but we want to put a big run together now.

“Our fitness levels are really good as well so on these heavy pitches we can go on. Against Mangotsfield and Yate I really thought we were lot stronger than them in the second half, so hopefully that will play a part as well.”

Harvey feels the recent victories are justification for manager Adie Mings’ enduring faith in the squad and is happy to have repaid the crowd for their support as well silencing the critical minority.

“I’m just over the moon for all the boys and management because we were getting some stick and it was totally undeserved because we’ve done nothing but work hard all season,” he said.

“They’re entitled to their opinion and I’m not criticising because that’s why I still play here because, at this standard, none of the other sides have got fans like ours.

“They’re always singing, they’re always chanting. Chippenham fans are legendary.”
