A new women’s rugby team has been launched in Pewsey.

Pewsey Ladies RFC, based at the Angela Yeates Memorial Ground, began playing in the Inner Warrior League last summer and earned promotion to the NC3 League for next season.

Laura Garnett from Pewsey Ladies RFC said: "We’re a very mixed bag in the best possible way – serving personnel, spouses and civilians.

"With players ranging from high-level experience to those who only discovered rugby recently."

Ms Garnett said: "We're a great bunch with brilliant team spirit and a lot of enthusiasm and passion for the game and our club.

"We really want to spread the word to other women in the area who might not know we're here yet – and would greatly appreciate the help in doing so."

The team aims to encourage more women to get involved in the sport.

Ms Garnett said: "If this sounds like something you’d enjoy covering, we’d love to host you for any of our upcoming home games."

Pewsey Ladies RFC welcomes players of all backgrounds, whether they have years of rugby experience or are picking up the sport for the first time.

The team is hoping for greater visibility in the community to help attract new players and supporters.
